Eureka Springs: What began as an oasis of healing nestled in a lush Ozark valley, in the mountains of Northwest Arkansas, remains today a place recalling the elegance and pace of an earlier time. Reports of Basin Spring's miraculous healing properties in the spring's waters brought 10,000 people to live here by the spring of 1879. The little town quickly became one of the top resorts of the Victorian era. In 1881, the town was declared a "City of the First Class". Today the entire downtown area is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Getting around town can be accomplished easily by riding the trolley's. There is also a tour of the town on a trolley that is worth taking. We stayed at the Wildernell RV Park, a nice park with a trolley stop in front.

Spring Street: Referred to as "The loop", the circular route that travels past many of Eureka's springs and through the Historic District. It's populated by galleries, shops, nightclubs, coffee houses, quirky local hangouts, elegant gourmet restaurants, gardens, massage therapists, healers of various sorts, street musicians and artists.

Crescent Hotel: During the construction special wagons were built to transport the huge pieces of magnesium limestone from the quarry site on the White River, near Beaver. Due to the density of this special stone, and the precision necessary in cutting and fitting, a group of specialists from Ireland were brought here to assist in construction. The 18" thick walls, fitted without the use of mortar, were built to withstand the destructive forces of time and retain its original beauty for many years to come. After it's opening in May of 1886, it was known as an" exclusive year-round resort hotel catering to the Carriage set. During those victorian years, the years of grandeur, the gracious hospitality of the Crescent Hotel became well known." The hotel still operates today, and is a place you must visit. The trolley will take you there, and it's also on the tour.
