Pomerene: Gammons Gulch: It's a ghost town movie set, located 12 miles North of I-10, close to Benson. Jay Gammons has spent years driving all over the country to buy authentic buildings and has built a complete western town. Jay's dad was a body guard for John Wayne and Jay was in a Wayne movie as a child. The location has been used for filming many movies and different items have been rented to movies, Tombstone being one. The lamp below was used in that movie. The scarf pictured below belonged to John Wayne, and on the same wall are photos of many movie stars that have been there and are friends of Mr Gammons. He takes your on a guided tour and tells you what movies were filmed where and what was used in some other movies. We asked him about several stars and he told us about some that were really nice and some that weren't. Laurel asked him about Sam Elliott - he said Sam was a real gentlemen, he also spoke highly of Dan Blocker (Bonanza). The tour is $7. each, but he tells you if you don' t think it's worth it you don't have to pay. The trip was definitely worth it.
