July 2001 ...........
Oshkosh: EAA Airventure is known as "The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration". You can get up close and personal with everything from ultra light aircraft to WW II bombers, from antique to state-of-the-art aircraft, from aviators to astronauts. There are daily air shows, and the vendor booths took up six huge hangers, plus outdoor vendors. People fly in from all over the world for the week-long celebration, and some just camp under the wings of their airplanes. The week we were there so were 850,000 other people. Campgrounds are available on the grounds, I think you must be a member of EAA (Experiential Aircraft Association) to stay on the grounds. The membership is $40. a year, we just joined for the one year. Dean flew in one time and we took the coach this time. Met up with Sandy and Paul Tomko, from Norwalk Connecticut, Dean and Paul are both pilots so they had a ball. Laurel was surprised how much she enjoyed the week, even though she doesn't know much about flying. The two coaches in the pictures below are ours and Tomko's. We made our own private covered patio, what fun.
