Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument: The name was changed in 1991 from Custer Battlefield National Monument, by order of the US Congress. In 2003 a two million dollar memorial was opened telling the Indian side of the story. "The area memorializes one of the last armed efforts of the Northern Plains Indians to preserve their way of life" In 1876 263 soldiers and support personnel of the US Army's Seventh Calvary, including Lt Col. George A. Custer, met death at the hands of several thousand Lakota and Cheyenne warriors. The monument is near Crow Agency, Montana and is attached to Native American land.

Great Falls: Settled around the mighty Missouri River that provided Great Falls with it's name. As the river cuts through the city it drops over 500 feet in a series of rapids and five waterfalls. Lewis and Clark were the first known white explorers to catch site of the "great falls", and they heard the roar of the falls over 70 miles away. Great Falls was the home of Charles Russell, the legendary cowboy artist. His home and museum are worth the seeing, especially if you love cowboy art. The water must have been very low when we were there because we didn't see any very large falls, or maybe we were just not in the right place.
