Abilene: Lebold Mansion - A Italianate victorian mansion built in 1880, it is on the national register of historic places. It has 23 rooms and has been restored and furnished with period antiques. Timothy Hersey's dugout, the first home in Abilene is located in the basement, they built this home over it. Meals were served to passengers of the Butterfield and Overland Freight Co, the last meal they received before Denver. The gentlemen that live in the home have done a beautiful job of restoring it, their company decorates museums and restores homes, they use this home as a showcase. Tours are Tuesday to Sunday, 10 to 4 and the cost is $10.00. Note: In 2010 the mansion was sold and is no longer open for tours. The property has been listed as one of the eight wonders of Kansas for it's architectural style.
