August 23 - August 24: On the Road to Kelona BC: Took the Cassier and Yellowhead to Prince George BC, uneventful trip. When we got on H-97 the country was beautiful, mostly farm ground, cattle and horses mixed in with huge forests. We came into Kalona through the second highest pass in BC, the fog was so thick we could barely see the center line. Stayed in Kay & Hank Neufilds driveway. We met them in Arizona last year, they live on Lake Okanagan, beautiful lake, 90 miles long and over 700 ft deep in spots. Miles Driven: 903

August 24 - August 25: Kelona BC: Hank and Kay showed us around town and took us to the area where last year a forest fire burned over 200 homes. The town is very pretty, would like to spend more time there. Unfortunately we're so tired sightseeing isn't what we want to do.

August 26 - August 27: Spokane WA: Stopped to see Lynn and Jan Whitig, folks we met in Puerto Penasco Mexico last winter. Lynn collects and restores old cars, Porsche, Jag, Rolls and other sports cars. We attended a birthday party for Jan's twins, met most of the family and had a great time. They showed us around town and we stopped to pick fresh fruits and veg., had our first Huckelberry Pie, it's very popular in the area. Miles Driven: 276

August 28 - August 29: Missoula MT: Montana is a beautiful state, "Big Sky Country" is an accurate description. Laurel got her first good taste of diving in the mountains with very steep curvy roads and of course, road construction. Stopped at a rest area and a trucker came over and told us we were throwing diesel all over the place. Sure enough, the Jeep and the back of the coach were covered. We had broken a fuel line, and naturally is was Sat afternoon. Called Spartan, they told us there was a Freightliner and a Cummings service center in Missoula. Freightliner was open on Sunday and they told us they would look at it early in the morning, so we had it towed to Freightliner. Sunday AM they came out, the service tec was so large he couldn't get up in the engine to work on it, they said they guessed they could look at it Monday and if they needed a part fix it on Tuesday. The broken hose was between the fuel filter and fuel pump, and wasn't high pressure. Dean got a piece of hose from them, fixed it and we went on down the road. If you ever need service in Missoula, don't go to Freightliner!!! Miles Driven: 152. On the 29th we drove 148 miles.

August 30 - September 1: Yellowstone National Park: Another beautiful day on the road, Montana is just as spectacular as it was yesterday, and we crossed the border into Wyoming. . I-90 passes through the Continental Divide, the grades are steep and the scenery is great .Miles Traveled on the 30th: 157. For Information and photos of Yellowstone go to the Map Page, click on Wyoming, then Yellowstone.

September 2 - September 12: Came through Grand Teton NP, took the inter road and stopped at the visitor center to get our NP Book Stamped. The lake in the park is so far down the Marina didn't even open this year. Drove through Jackson Hole, it appears to be very similar to the ski villages in Colorado. Will stop another time, too tired now. Stopped in Rawlins WY, Miles Driven: 410. Next day on the road to Sidney NB to Cabelas, we never seem to pass a Cabelas without stopping. Miles Driven: 260. Next day we drove to Des Moines, out of the way to Kansas, but we wanted to see the grand kids. Miles to Des Moines: 558. First thing we did in Des Moines was trade the Jeep on a Honda Pilot. Then Dean decided he wanted to tow something smaller so he bought a CRV. This way we can tow whichever we want. While in Des Moines we ran over to HWH to get the jacks worked on, then came home. Total Miles 595.
