Waterton National Park: In 1895 the area was protected by the federal government and is known as Waterton Lakes National Park of Canada. It’s on the international border just North of Montana. The park started with 54 square miles and now has just over 200 Sq miles of land. In 1932 Rotarians from the US & Canada came up with the idea for an international peace park and presented the plan to their federal representatives. The park was then created and is called The Waterton-Glacier International Peace park. It was created to create goodwill and cooperation between the US & Canada. There is only one main road in the park and a couple of side roads. In the park is the Prince of Wales Hotel. It was afternoon before we got there, because we left Calgary that morning, so we jumped in the car and made a fast trip. There is a campground in the park, St Mary Campground, but not a place for big rigs.

Prince of Wales Hotel: Pictured in the upper right hand corner of the above photo, it is one of the most photographed hotels in North America. It sits high on a bluff overlooking Waterton Lake, and is named after Prince Edward. The hotel is constructed completely of wood and was built in 1926-27 by the Great Northern Railroad. "Today the Prince of Wales Hotel is a grand survivor from the golden age of railway resort development in Canada and the US".
