Kicking Horse River: Eastern British Columbia's Kicking Horse River descends from the ice fields of the Canadian Rockies, on the west slope of the Continental Divide, into a broad U-shaped valley, then plunges through the lower Kicking Horse River Canyon to its confluence with the Columbia River. Photos below are of the Natural Bridge, a rock formation that spans the flow of the river. Sculpted by the erosive forces of rushing water over what once had been a waterfall, softer rock found below the hard limestone band eroded more quickly and the fissures in the rock widened until the flow of water was diverted below the outcrop.

Moraine Lake: A glacially fed lake in Banff National Park, situated in the Valley of Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6183 ft. It doesn't reach its crest until mid to late June and when full is a beautiful shade of blue. The lake, like other glacier fed lakes, gets its color from the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis. (Rock Flour is explained on the previous Canada page about Emerald Lake)
