Casa Grande National Monument: For more than a thousand years, prehistoric farmers inhabited much of present-day southern Arizona. In 1694 Father Eusebio Francisco Kino described his first visit to Casa Grande, or "Big House" as a four story structure built by the Hohokam in the mid-1300's. Constructed with layers of caliche mud, the walls of the tower are 4 1/2 feet thick at the base. This mysterious structure, with holes in three walls, is believed to have been used for astronomical observation. Casa Grande is the largest structure built by the Hohokam. Casa Grande Ruins, the nation's first archeological preserve is midway between Phoenix and Tucson, near I-8 & I-10. In the summer the daytime heat may exceed 100 degrees. Winter temps range from the 60's to the 80's.

Casa Grande: Palm Creek RV and Golf Resort - This is more like it, beautiful resort, beautiful golf course and beautiful weather. We find this is one of our favorite parks, and we return to it often. Our stays have ranged form one week to over three months. Palm Creek is where we learned to play Pickleball in 2009. Can't believe we had been at the park for so many years without learning to play.

Picacho Peak: Just Outside of Casa Grande, Dean climbed it in 2004 with Loren Shoemaker and his brothers. Loren is from Kalona BC
