July 2007 .............

Calgary: Parade - We went to the Stampede with the Newmar group, I think twenty coaches, and we had a great time. It was a well planned event and a very good way to see all the events. We attended the parade, had reserved seats, which was great. Parking would have been almost impossible and most people just sat on the curb or carried their lawn chairs. The theme for this year's parade (and the entire rodeo) was "Tough Enough To Wear Pink", to fight brest cancer. Wrangler was one of the big sponsors and most everyone wore something pink. We were all presented white cowboy hats, that's what they do to welcome groups to Calgary, so we had our white hats and pink bandanas. The parade had over 150 entries. Even the street sweepers were decorated, and they were needed with so many animals.

February 2002 .............

Calgary: "Heart of the New West " In the western province of Alberta, and less than an hour away from the Rocky Mountains. It is home to many of Canada's top companies and has one of the youngest and best-educated workforces in the country. Calgary is the energy capital of Canada and the second-largest head-office city in the country. Dean and I enjoyed riding on the light rail system, also known as the C-Train. Our RV park was several miles North, so we caught the train at the very North stop. We rode it several times to the Stampede and it was one of the highlights, us Kansas kids aren't use to fast transit.
